So, instead of doing school work...

Thu May 7, 2009, 6:25 PM
I'm posting a long-awaited journal entry here.

My costume-designing project went well, and I had a lot of fun with it, but sadly a good number of my ideas did not get used. We were on a low budget, so.... considering my general extravagant plans, it's understandable :D I did, however, manage to get a few frock coats and powdered wigs into the performance, so I'm perfectly happy! (If you're wondering how Amazon warriors and 18th-century men got into the same play, there was time-travel involved. Mythologically enhanced time-travel. Think Mel Brooks meets Monty Python meets "The Princess Bride". It was general stupid humor, and thoroughly awesome.)

I posted two new drawings and I apologize again for my extreme weirdness. I seem to become more of a nerd as this account goes on... ;) There will be more drawings soon, as well.

In other news, I am in the process of making an 1880 formal gown, which is taking up a great deal of time, but happily coming along well. It doesn't have a bustle (1880 was in that brief period between bustles!) but it still uses a LOT of fabric.

Oh, and because I can't stop with the nostalgia, I must mention the letters from 1814 I'm working with at the historical society. Full of ships, captains, and fisherman mistaken as the British fleet (I enjoy that account :) ) -- in addition to the glimpses into daily life, of course. I like how this coincides with my new-found interests..

  • Mood: Optimism
  • Listening to: Rain. And the Onegin waltz in my head.
  • Reading: The Mauritius Command-- Patrick O'Brien
