I went to a Revolutionary War reenactment festival the on Saturday, as I mentioned in the photograph I posted, which has pretty much been the highlight of my summer. I went with my sister and her boyfriend, and we wandered around listening to fifes and fiddles, being startled by cannonfire, talking to reenactors.... we got into a long conversation with the King's Rangers (loyalist musicians), which ended in them "recruiting" us to play tin whistle along with the fiddle. I was rather embarrassed to begin with (I don't play music in public... I usually hide in the closet so there's no chance of me being overheard) but looking back it was pretty awesome. There was a pretty good rendition of "Star of the County Down", and "Paddy O'Keefe's Slide"
Anyway, now I'm back to rambling around the house being bored..... I think there's some history nerd withdrawal going on here. But apparently the local historical society is going to contact me sometime soon (I volunteered to help with archiving), and we'll see how that goes!!
Hmmm... maybe I will find out if I can somehow volunteer to help with next year's Revolution festival (it happens every year).... who knows, maybe I can be one of their reenactors. I've always liked that thought - probably a result of going to places like Williamsburg and Plymouth when I was little. That's probably not going to happen, but as I said, I'm bored around here and fantasizing
